I have read so many of his books over the years it becomes difficult to remember which ones I missed.I am now 85 so the reading list solves the problem. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Code Examples Don't Always Work By Alexandria Loves Books In its favor this book is well organzied and easy to follow. I've had a couple of challenges with the examples, which based on the particular topic of study, presume knowledge of SQL and other basic codes. If you are familiar with HTML and have a good handle of how forms work, it's great. I'm learning a lot and the practical examples are excellent. I would even suggest adding more. My only complaint is that the writer often introduces topics outside of the scope of the book to demonstrate examples. In particular, I'm surprised that no one has noted that the Exercise 3 example does not run. There is a problem with properly defining the index 'month', which throws and error every time. A little fiddling got me as far as getting the script for the month of February to run; but that same script ran for all the months chooses. Could the reader verify why the codes not working and perhaps suggest alternatives or explanations that take into account that a person may not be up on forms and such. The code needs to be overhauled. It's probably a minor thing, but I'm still scratching my head hours later. It's all about the fact that the $_POST call for 'months' returns nothing and therefore does not allow the control statements to work after the user chooses a month. An explanation would be helpful. Otherwise, I give it a solid 4 for ease of understand and good(not great) practice examples.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Bad images used as code examples By Pop Jones Kindle Version -- can't say if this applies to a print version. The screen grabs of blocks of code are squished, cropping the last letter off of some words. I assume this is a fault of exporting images from your code editor, but it's definitely problematic. Why use images anyway? Why not use text so we can cut and paste your examples and experiment with these? Also, if I change the text size/color of the Kindle display, the images are still colored text on white and don't scale. I recommend updating the images with live text. See attached image, "echo", "elseif", etc. -- they read as ech, elsei. How do I know other characters aren't hidden in that crop? Please fix this. Can't recommend this book because of this flaw.

But I have found a flaw that takes away from the book, it has no page numbers!There is a table of contents that lists the page to go to, but since the pages are not numbered, it makes it nearly impossible to find something listed in the table of contents.

I loved reading all the stories of all the ways non-quilters inspired quilters to be creative and even break some "rules" to create a project that is as much them as their inpiration's. I don't know that I will make any of the patterns in the book (although they are all well written and put together), but I think I absolutely will be more open to collaborate with the non-quilter's in my life.

This book is such a gift and inspiration to the reader. It is a pleasure to read how each quilter develops the concepts and meaning for their quilts. Definitely a "keeper" and one that I will refer to often.

About the Author

Bruce Wingerd is a member of the Biology Department at National University in San Diego, California. Previously, he has held teaching/administrative positions at Edison State College (now called Florida Southwestern), Broward College, and San Diego State University. His degrees are in the fields of zoology and physiology, and he has taught courses in medical terminology, human anatomy, advanced human anatomy, and anatomy and physiology for more than 30 years. He has written numerous textbooks, lab manuals, and multimedia learning resources in medical terminology, human anatomy, anatomy and physiology, histology, and comparative mammalian anatomy. His goal in teaching and writing is to provide students with learning tools that will help them reach their potential through education. He enjoys counseling students in the health sciences, developing novel approaches to teaching and learning, and leading faculty in the drive for excellence in education.

While it is difficult to make specific design suggestions because every house and room is different, he does exactly that in order to best illustrate the principles. Covers the very basic details and the fundamentals as well as can be done in such a quick read.

I now believe in the ancient practice of Feng Shui By matt This is a really good read.The principles of Feng Shui were absolutely foreign to me before reading this book. It really helped me to get a good understanding on Feng Shui. This ancient tradition and practice is regarded as superstition in my professional circle, but honestly after learning more about it I have to admit it just makes sense to me. I thought back to when I had difficulties in my life and sure enough the places I was spending most of my time were absolute Feng Shui nightmares.In comparison my home now has a very positive energy and flows very well. I arranged my home before reading this book so I guess I was just lucky. However I do recognize the effect Feng Shui has made for me in my home and after reading this book I am going to make some small adjustments that I am sure will increase the Chi or flow of energy in my home.

It was a great relief to get rid of the clutter, get everything organized, and sell the things I didn't need any more. I love my house a whole lot better now. This book is filled with great ideas of where to place items and how to place them for greater harmony within the home. Highly recommended.
