About the Author Bonnie F. Fremgen is a former associate dean of the Allied Health Program at Robert Morris College. She has taught medical law and ethics courses as well as clinical and administrative topics. In addition, she has served as an advisor for students’ career planning. She has broad interests and experiences in the health care field, including hospitals, nursing homes, and physicians’ offices.

Dr. Fremgen holds a nursing degree as well as a master’s in health care administration. She received her PhD from the College of Education at the University of Illinois. She has performed postdoctoral studies in Medical Law at Loyola University Law School in Chicago. She has authored five textbooks with Pearson.

 

Suzanne S. Frucht is an Associate Professor Emeritus of Anatomy and Physiology at Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU). She holds baccalaureate degrees in biological sciences and physical therapy from Indiana University, an MS in biological sciences at NWMSU, and a PhD in molecular biology and biochemistry from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

For 14 years she worked full-time as a physical therapist in various health care settings, including acute care hospitals, extended care facilities, and home health. Based on her educational and clinical experience she was invited to teach medical terminology part-time in 1988 and became a full-time faculty member three years later as she discovered her love for the challenge of teaching. She taught a variety of courses including medical terminology, human anatomy, human physiology, and animal anatomy and physiology. She received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2003. After retiring from teaching in 2008, she continues to be active in student learning through teaching medical terminology as an online course and writing medical terminology texts and anatomy and physiology laboratory manuals.

By Dione Basseri I knew that, as a Geisel Award winner, this would be at least a passable book (I sometimes disagree with the awards, after all), but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the story. I think I associate the Geisel Award books with extra silliness, but this is not only a very realistic book, but it also manages to still remain quite funny.Mo is the smallest player on his football team. During a game, his coach decides to take advantage of the other team's dismissive attitude to run a little play and play a little trick.Some parents complain that their children refuse to read books which are too "girly," and this book would be a good offering to get them reading. But, of course, do try to broaden their horizons and break down those norms! In the meantime, though, if you just need to get them reading, this is a great pick for lovers of sports and more true-life type stories.

Some appear to be vintage advertising, like the face wash on the back cover. Others seem to be parts of graphics, like an angel's wing or a corset. There is a good variety of graphics for both men and women to enjoy, including children, bird houses, animals, household items like teapots and more.The images are printed on one side only, which is nice if you want to use markers and not worry about bleed through. The paper is decent. I have some coloring books with thicker paper and some with thinner paper. The cover is a matte finish and is very nice.One small thing that puzzles me is that some pages have two unrelated graphics on it, like a scissors with scroll work. I'm guessing it's to not waste space? This is not a big deal, just different from other books I have.The attached image was colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with Goo Gone. The paper colored nicely and I liked the result.If you like vintage art, give this book a try!

I love this book, the illustrations are beautiful and very unique. The pages are one sided and the paper quality is pretty good. I used some fineliners and there was hardly any bleed through. I was concerned about all the shading on the illustrations but after coloring a page I realized that they add to the vintage style.

Quirky By Julie Wall This book is a beautiful collection of kitsch images, illustrations and diagrams from long forgotten children's picture books or scientific manuals , endearing snapshots of bygone days before everything was drawn with computers.The benefits of adult colouring books for mindfulness or simply an enjoyable hobby are becoming more widely appreciated and with this book you get the added pleasure of bringing to life some really quirky and interesting subjects. Each pages brings a smile, or a raised eyebrow, osetting your mind racing with ideas of how to add your own touch to make each image your own.There's a large number of pages and a good variety in the amount of detail and accuracy required on each page. If this is your first adult colouring book you will find something quickly piques your imagination to get you started. If you're already a fan of adult colouring, this will be a lovely and unique addition to your collection of books.

An important book written to overcome one of the most socially acceptable forms of bigotry in the modern era By Clint Schnekloth You know there really isn't anything about this book to not like. It's very straightforward and programmatic, but that's needed. It walks the reader through the history of the development of Islamophobia in Western culture, including in-depth analysis of some of the most significant cultural moments of the last century.Definitions are clear. The book acknowledges consistently that it is explaining Islamophobia to a Western audience. It does not try to speak "for" Muslims, as if one could do that in any sense. It concludes with a set of interviews with major voices for understanding Islam better. This final Q&A, how to overcome Islamophobia, is robust, and a wonderful agenda to follow.I can hardly believe how helpful this book is. It needs to be read in every religion department of every university.

Hendrix Green is not only an excellent scholar, but he is also a gifted communicator. This book traces the origins of Islamophobic ideas from the middle ages and the period of the Reformation down to the current day, with a special focus on the rhetoric surrounding 9/11 and the period afterwards. It is written for the average educated reader, so Green avoids jargon and does a wonderful job of explaining complex ideas--such as the importance of post-colonial theory for understanding Islamophobic thinking--in a way that is not only clear and understandable but is also utterly compelling and interesting.

The book answered all the questions you might be searching for on The Happy Herbivore website. This book would be one I would definitely give to someone thinking about going plant based or who has general questions about a plant based lifestyle. Nonjudgmental and recognizes people may be at different stages when going plant based or living a plant based lifestyle. Not once did I feel while reading as if someone was attacking my beliefs or the the way I live based on my decision to not consume animals or their products. I point this out too because lately I feel while reading a lot of books on plant based lifestyles or veganism that we can be our own worst enemies and telling people how bad they are because they are not committed to the lifestyle enough. In this book you will realize that it is progress, not perfection.

Quick Read and Good for Beginners By Kindle Customer The Happy Herbivore Guide to Plant-Based Living is a good starting point for people who are interested in eating a meat-free and dairy-free diet without eating a bunch of fake things.There are no recipes. It is about how to deal with external influences (social situations,etc.) and problem solving such as food substitutes and feeding kids.If you have read books like the China Study or other heavy "sciency"books this will feel like a light read, If you feel well-grounded and know what you are doing, this book might be beneath your level of expertise. If you "know"what you are supposed to do but can't quite stick to it, reading this book may help.It is a quick read. It only took me 2-3 hours split up over the last day or so. The conversational tone made me lose track of the time that I spent reading.There is no "conclusion", after some troubleshooting topics--wham! appendix. Just like my review.
