Helpful book to understand Communication By Mark Steve Good communication plays big role in our world today, it lead us on the way we live our lives, it will take us in places we want to go, and it expresses how we feel. Reading this book will help you understand better how to communicate will and how to develop it. This book have given me better meaning of Stage Fright and how to overcome it. What i see on this book that is very important in communication is "Don't Make Assumptions" and "Honesty is the Key". Great Job Ross Elkins. I highly recommend this book!

This book give some tips on spreading influence and getting words to come out when talking groups of people. It gives also ideas to help radically change us how to approach public speaking and how to succeed at any speech. I liked the fact that this book showed the basic strategies for creating strong communication skills. Reminds that there is an important thing, the heart of communication "Talking and Listening". Without the heart of communication, We cannot achieve what we want such as friends,love,power and wealth. I rather used this book to improved myself. I will recommend this to all people who wants to developed and improved their communication skills. I loved the facts that practice should be done for overcoming the uncertain pathway for Interpersonal process. Nice book and very informative. Read the book and find your effective techniques.

I find this book perfect in everything By Alejandro Blanco I find this book perfect in everything, say that the most important aspect of human life is precisely the communication,Now, communication brings with it other important factors such as believing what they tell you, what you say, have confidence as such,and above all, know your whole body contact, this book teaches you to listen carefully, to observe, to speak in publicwith more security and confidence and helps you to be honest when communicating, communication is perhaps the most important vital aspectin the universe, without communication the world would be in total chaos, but you must know that these factors also must handleand know how to treat each situation according to what this book teaches us honestly I found it an excellent book, didn't expect less from this,despite being short, the information it provides is quite useful, I loved it.

By Colorado C Justina, Ig, and Gunther make up the 7th Grade Sleuths Mystery club and take on their first case when there learn a vandal is on the loose at their middle school. At the same time, a class project sends Ju and Ig on separate paths, each struggling with their own cold hard facts. This story is heartwarming and sweet, while also exciting and full of unknowns, with endearing characters who come alive on the page. Can't wait to read more in this series!

It was wonderful to get to know Ju and her family. No matter how old you are, you will enjoy getting to know these characters. It was also great to read about a Hispanic family and recognize many of the same issues I myself dealt with when I was younger. . . especially the frizzy hair! I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next one in the series!

Along the way, we get a peak into the richness and beauty of Ju's Puerto Rican heritage. Hope there will be many more 7th Grade Sleuths stories and much more about Ju and her beloved (and tolerant) family.

By Rosa Emilia Although this book is advertised for IR students and/or science fiction fans, this is a book that almost everybody would enjoy reading. The book helps understand how and why political leaders make decisions. The author did a great job combining IR theory with examples of our world (history) and other worlds (science fiction). This combination provides a unique approach that allows the reader to appreciate the dynamics of foreign policy.Whether you are a fan of any of the shows or not, you will find this book interesting. The author provides enough information to enjoy the book without knowing much about the shows. For the fans, the author provides a lot of interesting background on how the shows were developed.

A Highly Flawed Reading of Star Trek: The Next Generation By George Gonzalez Unfortunately, this is a superficial, unsatisfying treatment of both popular culture and international relations.One specific critique I'll offer is of chapter 5. Dyson argues that Star Trek: The Next Generation conveys a world without controversy -- as the end of the Cold War left all political questions ostensibly answered in the late 1980s and early 1990s (i.e., "the end of history".) This is completely false. The Next Generation from it virtual inception cast the political tension in the world system at the end of the Cold War as modernism versus traditionalism. The third episode of the series "Code of Honor" (1987) portrayed a traditionalist society. Also during the first season "Heart of Glory" is aired -- the first instance where Klingons are cast as traditionalists (more specifically, religious Muslims: “We are, after all, brothers lost among infidels.”)

The Physics Devotional contains not prayers but physics-related quotations.The quotations are taken from the work of physicists, but are also derived from other disciplines. There are quotations from some of my favorite physicists: Feynman, Boltzman, and Rutherford. There is the literary crowd: Rice and Pope; and of course, Pickover's peers, the science writers: Clarke, Gardner, Asimov, and Sagan.The 366 images include works of art, computer-generated images, and photographs. My favorites are the snow flakes of July 25 and the rainbow with cows of August 11.I think that the way to enjoy this volume is to take it in one day at a time. After all, each page has its own date. On the other hand, you can just jump around at random.This book can appeal to physicists and non-physicists alike, but remember: “All science is either physics or stamp collecting,” Rutherford, December 9.

A Stained Glass Window into the Cathedral of Physics By Ray Erskins In Cliff Pickover’s latest book, THE PHYSICS DEVOTIONAL, the ideas and insights of artists, poets, novelists, politicians, saints, and scientists become a cosmic choral symphony as we experience each page, both visually and literarily. Dr. Pickover has been a passionate collector of startling information and images from a broad spectrum of subject matter for many years. His prodigious appetite for everything from little known mathematical conundrums to anthropological curiosities makes his mind-expanding, multidimensional Weltanschauung a lot of fun. He seems to relish the farthest reaches of ultimate reality at the very fringes of human understanding. And yet, this is exactly what makes so many of his books unique, accessible, and enlightening.Much of the astounding art and images throughout this book are suitable for framing, except, perhaps, those photographs or illustrations that serve as more of a visual aid to the comprehension of some abstract principle or incommensurable enigma. Some, however, are tantamount to a stained glass window into the cathedral of physics. The divorce of Faith and Reason all but disappears amid the ethereal vapors of mathematical theory and the physical laws of the universe, although I would hasten to add that the Faith of which I speak is the faith that many scientists have found amid their sudden revelations of the magic and ingenuity of Nature.But there is also irony in much of what has been said about physics, as well as wry humor. There is also rhapsody – and most certainly uncertainty. There is also something romantic about physics, and best of all, something optimistic. Of all the truly wonderful quotations in this book, one seems to haunt me the most. It was written by Elisabeth Heisenberg, and it’s on page 324:“One moonlit night we walked all over the Hainberg Mountain [near Gottingen], and [Heisenberg] was completely enthralled by the visions he had, trying to explain his newest discovery to me. He talked about the miracle of symmetry as the original archetype of creation, about harmony, about the beauty of simplicity, and its inner truth. It was a high point of our lives.”To me, that’s the Universe winking at us from the star of hope.

Whether overturning a longstanding idea (Heisenberg upending causality with quantum mechanics, Gödel smashing the pure Platonic notion of mathematical decidability) or marshaling the same disdain for received political wisdom (Galileo, Andrei Sakharov), the scientific ethic – stubbornly following your nose where it leads you – is a threat to establishments of all kinds.”George Johnson, New York Times Book Review, and the daily entry for June 18Busy as we all are with our mundane duties of living, it is most refreshing to take a few minutes each day just to relax and escape into some wonderful thoughts of some of the great science thinkers of the ages. Similar to a religious devotional this book consists of a collection of 366 daily inspirational quotations (yes, leap day has not been forgotten) – some as brief as graffiti, others longer and more thoughtful. My favorite of the brief one-liners is the entry for the final day of the year by Lee Smolin in 2006, “How did the universe know, at that moment of beginning, what laws to follow”? The sources of the quotes range from Paul Dirac, Martin Gardner, Vincent van Gogh, Stephen Hawking, Richard Feynman, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Marcus Chown, John Steinbeck, and Isaac Newton among many other contributors. To add to the delight of their fine words there is full color artwork for each day, often something of a dazzling fractal image. Also, for some dates are mentions of the birthdates of a number of the more noteworthy figures of science. In addition, the book includes a brief introduction and a collection of micro-biographies of some of the principals whose words grace these pages. To learn more about the physics and the humans who created their magnificent science there is also a useful bibliography. And, as real people in the real world we have to spend real money, it is quite a relief that this book like its companion volume The Mathematics Devotional is available at a down to earth reasonable price.

They are a challenge for her to read but she loves the stories and is willing to try. These are a great step up to chapter books for readers who have moved into wanting more challenging reads. The story is excellent, sweet and fun. My daughter loves them.

When Hattie and Owen try to teach Sophie how to swim, she learns that she doesn't really want to be in the water. She just wants to be able to play and race across the lake with her friends. The solution? Hattie and Owen build her a raft. This book teaches about accepting one's limitations and finding a way around them. A great lesson for young readers!

By Amazon Customer I bought this book to go with the other "The Rights of Law Enforcement Officer" books that I already have. It covers about everything that could happen to a police officer while trying to make it through this difficult career. It's really officer survival in the PD. It has saved me a few times already so it was well worth the money.

Well if you are a movie fan of course, but who isn't? It wasquite nice to browse through the pages and look at all the wonderful (and sometimes quite weird) covers. Mostly are these movies I have never seen, hell mostly never heard of and I thought I was a movie buff. But it was great to read through this book and I got a bit nostalgic. Just think it wasn't many years ago I had a collection of VHS now I just have a couple left...Anyway it was a nice book, perfect if you are a movie buff that likes old movies and perhaps especially good for those that want to see more obscure movies. By Son of Dracula As a kid, some of my happiest memories are looking over the boxes at the dollar video store. The excitement and promise of untold horrors or great adventures, pulling me in, making it impossible not to rent anything with a badass cover. Luckily they had 5 movies for a dollar Tuesdays. Later I realized how many films I loved, not because they were good movies, but because of the package that surrounded it. So many childhood nightmares spawned from the cover art...years later as an adult I'd re-watch and realize the entire film was lit so poorly I couldn't even see the monster! Yet the art painted a picture that still haunts my dreams. A VHS Box cover, telling a story so insane and creative, it was often better than the movie. So the movies were dismissed, and the art sometimes lost. I still have my VHS collection, but this book goes way beyond that. Fellow monster kids, video hounds, anyone who wore their creature features guide to the binding...this is awesome. If you love movies, get this book. I first encountered Tom Hodge "The Dude" through his amazing hand drawn movie posters. His stuff stood out at a quality level that seems to be scarce these days in the poster world. Makes sense he would compile such an awesome volume that makes me feel like I'm back in the video store again, raiding the dusty shelves, finding secret gems. Red says check it out!

Like A Fantastic Journey Through An Old Video Store By scotbot Though I really enjoyed this book, it should be mentioned that the VHS cover art depicted within is from the UK. Being from the US, I did not recognize most of the art so this was not the nostalgia jam I was looking forward to. Nevertheless, this book is so well put together with each page showing full front, back and spine of the covers. I really hope that someone makes a book featuring American VHS cover art using this same format. It's a fantastic journey through a library of exciting, fantastic and lurid films with box art so enticing you'll want to take them to the checkout counter and rent them today!
