Johnson Thomas has obviously invested time and research into this easily-readable summary of important facts to consider in planning. Readers will find tips for huge collections and family-history buffs with smaller piles of precious papers, memories and articles.My sister has said, "If anything happened to me, Jack wouldn't have any idea what's in the attic. He'd just throw it out." Mother had never seen my grandmother's box of photos, before she found them in clearing items from her home.A prolific, 20+-year researcher of my dad's family recently retired, for health reasons. He confided in email that he'd amassed 1,500 lbs of paper research...in which his daughter had no interest.I treasure the research meticulous work passed down to me. I want to be sure later family members can find every resource I now know about, discover or create to supplement our knowledge.

Thomas MacEntee has provided me an action plan By Geoffrey Brown EXCELLENT!!Like many family historians, I'm not expecting to leave anyone behind with any interest in the family history. My only child, a Doctor, has no interest in it, and I have few other close relatives. Whenever I thought about what would become of the family history once I expired, my usual course of action was to quickly think about something else.In this short book, many questions have been answered, and I have, I think, a direction in which to proceed -- and that's huge!!Thank you so much!!!p.s. I should have mentioned that Thomas MacEntee is a respected professional genealogist with a strong professional background in computer technology. Before I read this book, I already had a high opinion of his work and his communications skills. This book reinforced my high opinion of him.

Review of After You're Gone: Future Proofing Your Genealogy Research By Becky Barr This book was very helpful in learning how to prepare my research for family members after I'm gone. It has taken me years and much stress to sort the 'stuff' my mom left disorganized and unlabeled. The author was concise and informative, the resources were useful and I am encouraged to get started right away in organizing my materials. I am planning to share this information with other family members. Thank you for providing just what I need to feel more secure about the time already spent in genealogy research.
