29 of 30 people found the following review helpful. Quite good By Rain23 Moves along at a great place. Pretty grimly realistic in places, rated r for violence that fits the subject, not gratuitous. Some decent values in here too. And a surprising amount of survival info worked into the story, not an equipment list. Maybe I'm around guns more than most but I didn't notice any great amount of weapons babble, it also fits the storyline. Protagonist is young but this is handled deftly, not some Rambo junior fantasy. Breaks the usual prepper mold in regard to women too. They're real not window dressing. I will keep reading the series, got my money's worth. Btw the page count on the book I believe said 112 but I read rather quickly and this took up my evening, it's a hefty story not a serial short.
25 of 28 people found the following review helpful. ~~Glimpse of Hell~~ By Off Grid..and Loving it! A young man, Luke finds himself in Chicago when the lights go out. This is the story of his trek towards home to Texas. In this first installment, the reader is able to figure out that Luke is indeed a most capable young man of 16. His dad taught him a lot about survival and weapons - both of which come in handy numerous times in this episode. We also learn that Luke is compassionate when he rescues a young girl, Amy from her tormenters. She is also young at 14 but is willing to take a risk by traveling with Luke.They also team up with an older couple named Stan and Ruth who have a six month old baby, Sophia. Another rescue instigated by Amy in this instance. Luke tells a story about a rest stop that really is a glimpse of Hell. Civilization no longer is playing by any previous rules and one must be on their toes at all times.A good start to this one and I will read on to the next episode to see what transpires. Lots of "gun talk" in this one so that will whet the appetite for those interested in Romanian rifles or any other type of guns, for that matter.Highly recommended.

I am a writer myself and I've read all the reviews of my books yet I've never written one so please don't review my review.I have never met Mr. Allen ( Will) but it's like we are old friends thru my our contacts with my own writing so when he sent me the first draft of his book I was flat blown away, I couldn't believe this man had never written anything before.Walking in the Rain: Surviving the Fall .. Is a fantastic story of survival as a young teen makes his way home after an event that wiped out the entire power grid as well as almost all electronics.This book is as real as it can be, there is noting "soft" about the new world Luke finds himself in as he learns how to survive in the hardest school there is ... Life, the daily struggle just to put one foot in front of the other being the hardest battle,I am amazed at the way Will has captured what I believe would be exactly the way thing will go if this were to happen, I truly believe anybody can learn just by reading the events as they occur in young Luke's life, Will has woven a story to capture readers from the first words.As I said, I've never written a review and this is so lame!
