. “Morgan he's changed. He's like a wounded animal, he's more dangerous now than he was in the past.” “The Apache have a name for this they call it “go de,” a black spirit that haunts your. It's the anger inside him thats kept him alive and it's that same anger that may kill him. He takes chances knowing he could be killed, but I don't think it matters that much to him. Getting these two is his goal, and has been for two years now, and Morgan, he won't quit, not unless they kill him.” “When they killed her, I don't think they had any idea what they would unleash.” He growled angrily. “Heard from a marshal up in Utah that he just walked in on the Calhoun gang, called out the Ault brothers then shot them in front of Calhoun! Later when they went after the gang in the hole in the wall, they shot Calhoun, just before he died he told them 'bout this marshal that just walked in on them. Said he had the eyes of a devil”. “He's dangerous Morgan, to them and to himself.” He said, as he looked hard at her. “He's worse now than he was even with the Apache.” He said, as he looked at her. They unleashed that devil inside him the day they killed his wife.” From the desert of Arizona to the rugged mountains of Colorado comes a man; a man much like the country itself, hard and uncompromising, Travis McCord, raised by the Apache, known as El Cetan Nogin; the Shadow Hawk, a renegade, a man known to be ruthless, now turned territorial Marshal, is cunning and relentless; his sole mission; to find and destroy those who killed his wife. He battles the terrain, the weather but most of all himself as he meets the beautiful, yet stubborn Morgan Jenrick, owner of the Storm King ranch. She becomes a target as Sam Claybourne and Roman Kincaid realize, the only way to get Travis McCord is to take Morgan Jenrick!

By Amazon Customer Mildred Luker This book is not for the faint of heart but for those who want to see him, though broken and beaten rise from the depths of despair...struggling to right the many wrongs done to him from the young age of 12. He is a boy becoming a man through the bitter life put upon by fate and the times in which he had to live. He is part Apache by accident and part white man living in the 1870s of the wild west. Travis is like a crazed and wounded animal as he stalks those who tried to destroy him and all he loved. He becomes a one man crusader in a range war, fighting crooked ranchers, would-be gunslingers,...through the deserts, mountains, rivers of swift deadly waters of beautiful Colorado...living off land....fighting on both sides of the law...showing raw emotions and tenderness alike..struggling to rise above the hard road given him by the evil men who tried to deal him a losing hand. Do not start this page turner book, unless you have the several hours to read it to the shattering end. I salute this author on their first book out of the chute. I hope to read many more in the future.

The author does a superb job of putting the reader in the mind of the main character Travis. The detail and use of dialogue of that era makes this book a page turner that leaves one feeling in lock step with Travis through his trials and emotions! The first review put it wonderfully and I couldn’t agree more. I would definitely go to this as a movie! More books please…..

Read the preview first By Claire, A Reader The similarity in writing style in the single, glowing five-star review of this book led me to read the preview of this book. I recommend anyone else who is considering downloading or, worse yet, purchasing this book take a look first. The editing is poor -- missing commas, misspelled words -- and the writing is tell-not-show (and little detail in that, too). Maybe it will be to your reading taste, but I feel a fair warning is warranted.
