He portrays the technology of whaling and how it evolved and gives a sense of both the seaport towns and life at sea.

By Brian Maitland I pick up this book on the New England Whalers and there's not one mention of Wayne "Swoop" Carleton, Tom "Hawkeye" Webster (of the right wingboards!), Terry Caffery, Brad Selwood, Rick Ley, Jim Dorey, Al Smith, Christer Abrahamsson, John Cunniff, etc.Oh, it's the other kind of whaler! As Roseanne Roseannadanna would say, "Never mind!"
