12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Great whodunnit suspense thriller By S. Munnion I loved this book: erotic scenes, nerve-tingling tension, quick-fire humour and great locations. It develops around an amnesia plot but from the fresh perspective of drug-addled main protagonist, AmyThis book is a beautiful treatise on lost memory. I sometimes think our collection of lost memories is an emotion in itself. The author reveals tiny morsels which give the story great mystery and suspense, and for me, this is what really drives the plot. I personally liked very much the long 'thought passages' whereby we learned what Amy thought and felt.I didn't think I would like Amy, but in the end I was pulling for her. Amy develops well as a character and in fact I think its quite an achievement to turn the developer of an insidious and mind-altering drug who works for a secret quasi-establishment company, into a believable heroine (hope I didn't give too much of the plot away there). Morgan's knowledge of the more secretive division of the pharmaceutical industry is also impressive.Finally I would like to mention that it is very refreshing to read an erotic scene written by a confident, no-nonsense writer like Morgan.True, this book will probably not appeal to nerdy hard sci-fi fans but if you like any kind of 'human interest' in your stories with a heavy dose of tension you will love this.
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A great "Who Did It" Mystery with a "Bones" flare to it. By Amazon Customer I liked the story. Morgan definitely starts this one off with a bang! We come in onto a love scene that quickly turns into something else. The mystery surrounding the story hooks you right from the start. From beginning to end Morgan had me questioning who to trust. Just as I was sure who was "good" and who was "bad" something else would happen or be said that would make me doubt myself. My only complaints are that I feel we spent too much time inside Amy's head. There were times where I had to stop reading because Amy's thoughts were just too long, boring and repetitive. I also felt like the ending was cut short. It felt rushed and kind of plain for a story with so many twist and turns. That being said I still liked it. The who, where and why parts of the story really do sink their hooks into you.I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars. Why? Because (1) The mystery and plot twists entwined in the story were great! but (2) the inner monologue was just too much at times and because of that (3) I don't see myself rereading it.Would I recommend this book?Yes. It's an easy read (except for the long inner monologues) and the mystery behind the story sinks it's teeth into you until the very end.I would recommend this book to a reader who loves Romantic Suspense.I felt Morgan did a great job weaving her story together and hooking me into wanting to know what happens. I can't wait to see what her other books have in store!
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. great reading By LAS Reviewer Morgan Wyatt’s new Love or Deception is a gripping, action-packed mystery-slash-suspense every bit as exciting as its awesome cover implies.Amy and Mark are in love…at least, we know for sure Amy is in love with her wonderful, super-sexy husband, who appears to be as happy as she; for the few moments we see them together. Their magical time together might well be ‘the deception’ here, as much as anything; for too soon, she’s talking to a detective and trying to understand what might have happened. Mark is gone.Startled, suspicions, and intrigued: we readers are hooked from the start. There must be some explanation. Amy is no fool, yet seems confused by events. As she begins to puzzle out what happened, she uses everything, even her own condition, as clues to possible events. Others are looking at her possible motivations, so not only does she want to find her husband, it is looking more and more like she needs to find him, to clear herself.Some secondary characters are a bit wooden, but others, like Aunt Remy and a couple friends are well done; clearly ‘characters’ in their own right. As Amy regains her memory, we readers get a better look at her working life, and start to develop suspicions of our unknown. Her friends are also involved, and figure out some possible scenarios, themselves. Although the plot charges forward like any good thriller, truly the ‘love’ part of it all–as her chief motivation–shines throughout. Romance fans will not be disappointed.Although it is unclear when her memory problems began, leaving many possibilities open; the clue-hunting, critical mystery-fan in me still admits this is both well-done and clever.
