From the Author We thought a coloring book of Candace's paintings would make a lovely reward or free gift for the upcoming book that is currently in development called Companions in the Garden - The Making of a First Lady Portrait Artist. However, when the coloring book craze hit the fan in April, we decided we'd better get this one on the market. We're hoping to help people boost their visual literacy by seeing what the artists sees. The cat's out of the bag...coloring is fun and good for us, too!
About the Author Candace Whittemore Lovely is an award winning, Boston School painter and Copley Master. She is recognized in the world of fine art for her landscapes of treasured locales and people at play in idyllic settings. Her romantic vision and technical ability combine to voice a pleasing view of contemporary American life. Authorities in the art world label Lovely's work as contemporary American Impressionism. Candace is also known for her portraits. In 1991, she painted First Lady Barbara Bush’s portrait at the White House. When she is not outdoors painting in plein air, she works in her north light studio located in her home on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Candace welcomes visitors to her studio by appointment. I am so excited to color in the lines with Candace!! She is my favorite au courant artist, and her use of color is unsurpassed. How exciting it is to own something by the artist who was selected by Barbara Bush to paint her Official White House portrait. For anyone who is not familiar with Candace's work, you will be astounded. Definitely check out her website:)
