By Atom The Sand Runner’s swift story pace keeps the reader engaged while the struggles of Gina’s training provide compelling immersion into the discipline needed to survive as a runner on the desert planet Baando. The intriguing contrast provided by B.C. Kowalski’s primitive warfare set in humanity’s far-future sparks the imagination; an effect that is unfortunately tempered by the brevity of the work. Kowalski is an emerging science-fiction/fantasy writer with a style that leaves the reader wanting a longer look into his worlds. It is clear that he continues to grow as a writer, with the seeds of a great storyteller nestled in the pages of The Sand Runner.
